Anna Lachykhina, co-founder of Good Politics, met with young people at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the World War II. It was an open conversation about how gender inequality affects the quality of democracy.
Anna shared her experience in strategic communications and working with government institutions. She emphasized that democracy is not only about the right to vote — it’s also about having a voice, participating in decision-making, and having equal opportunities.
“When a part of society is excluded from decision-making, we lose balance, trust, and justice. Investing in equality means building strong institutions,” – Anna highlighted.
At Good Politics, values like respect, equality, openness, and inclusion are the foundation for collaboration with both the team and clients. Talking to youth about these issues is our way of supporting meaningful societal change. We aim to contribute to the ethical development of our profession and to a better society.
Women around the world continue to face numerous barriers:
- They are underrepresented in politics;
- They experience discrimination more often;
- They still have to challenge biased attitudes.
As a result, women don’t have equal access to decision-making processes.
“Investing in women should be seen as an investment in strong democratic systems. When we exclude a portion of citizens from decision-making, we weaken the very essence of democracy,” Anna concluded.
Drawing on her extensive international experience in strategic communications and engagement with government bodies in Ukraine, the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Anna encouraged young people to stay mindful about equality issues and to actively engage in civic and political processes to help build a better society.
