How Good Politics Helped a Rugby Team Get Back on Screen: The Story of Kyivan Polytechnic

Thanks to Good Politics, matches of the rugby club “Polytechnic” were broadcast on Ukrainian television for the first time in 8 years. This project shows that even a niche sport in Ukraine can be interesting for viewers and broadcast on TV.

About the client: “Polytechnic” is Ukraine’s first rugby team, founded in 1962 at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. A multiple-time national champion and participant in international tournaments. The co-founder of Good Politics, Maksym Dzhyhun, used to be one of the club’s players, playing in the Ukrainian Rugby 15 and Rugby 7 championships in 2014-2018.

Client’s request: increase awareness of the club among sports fans and attract media attention.

Good Politics’ solution: first, we reached an agreement with xSport TV channel to broadcast all home matches so that as many people as possible could learn about the club.

To boost their presence further, we also prepared and posted club news on the pages of Tribuna.com, one of Ukraine’s leading sports media outlets.

“Sport has always been a powerful force for unity in Ukraine. At Good Politics, we’re proud to support initiatives like this. Partnering with Kyivan Polytechnic is a great opportunity to promote amateur sports and highlight the resilience of Ukrainians in tough times,” — said Maksym Dzhyhun, CEO of Good Politics.
